NOTICE:At the start of 2024, A&A Studios made the decision to limit our analog photobooth sales. We are focused on providing support to our existing analog colleagues, as well as previous customers. Thus, we are still servicing and restoring machines for those who have existing analog booths. However, we are limiting sales to new analog booth customers.
Why are we limiting sales? We certainly love these analog machines, but they are not at all "plug and play". Due to this, our ability to provide comprehensive support is often very limited, if available at all. In addition, since 2022, there has been a global paper (aka "film") shortage due to war in the Ukraine. The best paper manufacturer was by Slavich, of Russia. Slavich has ceased photobooth paper production, indefinitely. Currently, the best alternative supplier that we have identified to specially cut photobooth paper (FOMA) is not able to match the quality and latitude of the old Slavich paper. In addition, it is unclear how long analog paper manufacturers will continue to produce a suitable product. Ilford has a decent product, but mass production of properly cut paper has been slow. Furthermore, Ilford's paper still does not match the quality and tonal range of Slavich. While there has been resurgence in analog photography, it is still quite niche, making the profitability of running these factories into the future questionable.
Therefore, as a potential new customer, you might invest a lot of money in an analog booth, only to find out a few months later that paper is no longer available. In addition, the chemicals are carcinogenic, toxic, and require costly disposal. **Note: local state and federal laws are often very restrictive with respect to chemical handling and disposal.
